Hi, I’m Gahan
Intro
I was born and raised in Bengaluru, India. As a kid, I was fascinated by how things worked. I’d take apart anything I could get my hands on, from TV remotes and RC cars to old cell phones, just to understand what was inside and what each part did. Nothing was safe.
My design journey started in 2014. Well... not really. That was the year Google launched Android 5.0 Lollipop and Material Design.
I was mesmerised by how clean and cohesive everything felt compared to what came before. It made me curious about why some things felt “well designed” while others didn’t.
From then on, I started training my eye, paying closer attention to the details, patterns, and decisions that made good design feel good.
Designing
I believe in designing with intent. I’m heavily inspired by Dieter Rams’ core design philosophy - “less but better”. We interact with countless digital and physical products every day, making it easy to confuse what we need with what simply looks good and does a bunch of things for names’ sake. Good design, to me, starts with asking: Does this genuinely serve a purpose, or does it just look good?
Values I bring
- #1
- Iterate with intent. Move fast but know why you’re moving.
- #2
- Be real and be honest with people. It does wonders.
- #3
- Purpose first, interface later. Form follows function.
- #4
- Design for emotions. It’s what makes an experience memorable.
- #5
- Respect the craft. Give every detail its due.
- #6
- Leave things better than you found them.

Colophon
I built this portfolio in under 24 hours using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Python, and anime.js library. I used components from MetalForge and was inspired by System Studio. My choice of typeface is Brockmann. All photos are taken by me unless stated otherwise.
